Kim Porter MSN, CNM, WHNP
Kim Porter has long felt a calling for service to women. Originally from Grand Rapids, she moved to Chicago after graduating from City High School to attend Loyola University, receiving a Bachelors of Science in psychology and women’s studies. After college she worked at a local non-profit women’s health care center where she learned about the role of certified nurse midwives and nurse practitioners, and was exposed to the unique relationships that can be fostered within the midwifery model of care. This exposure pushed Kim to earn her BSN from Grand Valley State University, gain valuable practice-shaping experience as an L&D nurse, and return to graduate school.
In 2014, Kim graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, DC with a Masters in Nursing and dual Nurse-Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner certifications. Throughout her midwifery training and clinical practice, Kim has gained a broad range of women’s health care experiences that include out-of-hospital birth center and home birth, rural health hospitals, and busy urban hospital settings.
Her absolute passion is to walk alongside women in their healthcare journeys, forming trusting relationships, and providing evidence-based, patient-centered, and consent-informed care. During her time off, Kim enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and being owned by her English Mastiffs.
