Kristen Dib MSN, CNM
Kristen grew up in metro Detroit. She moved to west Michigan to earn her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Grand Valley State University in 2011. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse for five years in Grand Rapids, until she received her Masters of Science in midwifery from the University of Michigan in 2016. She spent a year working as a Certified Nurse Midwife in Kalamazoo before returning to Grand Rapids to continue her midwifery career.
While at the University of Michigan, Kristen took every opportunity to travel abroad to educate and understand the universal language of labor, birth, and the empowerment it can bring to each and every woman. Her travels included training Traditional Birth Attendants and nurses in Home Based Life Saving Skills in Yangon, Myanmar, and continuing this education in the Nymazi refugee camp in Adjumani, Uganda. Finally, she finished her last semester in Fort Portal, Uganda at the regional hospital, working with women during labor and birth of their children. She has focused her education on being able to empower and create autonomy to all individuals, especially women, regardless of social class.
Kristen is excited to return to Grand Rapids as a midwife. She is thrilled to join Sarah and Breck to continue providing women-centered care in the Grand Rapids area. She has a special interest in reproductive justice, health care policy, and complementary/alternative therapies in pregnancy and labor. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, newborn son, dog, and family, as well as enjoying traveling and enjoying the local cuisine.
